So, I skipped my period the other week. I'm on birth control but haven't had intercourse in a few months.
The past couple of days I've been getting what could be considered my period but it's brown. Not like at the beginning/end of my period. The discharge is the same sort of texture as if I were menstruating.

What could this be? Should I be concerned?

Sudden recurring yeast infections?
I'm 23 and have managed to go 22 years of my life, blissfully unaware of the horrors of yeast infections. Then, about 2-3 months ago, I got my first one (was officially disagnosed as a YI at a doctor's office). Wow, omg, just general discomfort. I was miserable. I finally managed to shake it with the use of the one-time pill Difuclan, then maybe two weeks after that one was totally gone, I felt the familar pain and itch and icky clumpy discharge. That one I treated with yogurt cause having them close together, I was afraid of putting too many chemicals into my body too suddenly. That one worked well, as it was gone for almost a month but now, here I am, again.

I've gone 22 years without a YI and now suddenly, theyre popping up almost once a month. What would bring this sudden onset of chronic yeast infections? Im not having sex at the moment, so I know it's not the 'ping-pong effect' and I havent changed my diet or daily routine at all. I wear plain cotton panties, wipe front-to-back, and after the first nasty YI I got rid of my feminine soap and have since opted for just warm water and a soft washcloth, so I know it's not any of that. Are they bad now because I haven't been using soap? What can I do? Sometimes they get so bad that the outer labia is so tender it hurts to even pull my panties on or wipe after using the toilet. Im in misery!

(Also, if you remember me from my previous posts, took a pregnancy test: Negative... was a little disappointed to be honest but when the time's right, I suppose)

Clapotis Question
Hi!
I'm knitting the clapotis and am on the straight section and I'm scared to go further! This line:
"Row 8: P1, remove marker, drop next st, let it drop down several rows, pick up top bar with left needle to form a new st (make sure this st isn't twisted), k this and foll st tbl, k3, k tbl, [k1, k tbl, k3, k tbl] to last marker, k1, k tbl, kfb."

I've dropped the stitch and picked up the top bar and it now is a new stitch (kinda looks like a yo). After I knit this, what does it mean "foll st tbl". Does this kind of mean kfb in that I form TWO stitches from the bar?

Thanks in advance!

razor selection
What kind of razors do you use (for what parts of the body), and how long do they last? Do you think non-disposable razors are worth the up-front expense?

I bought four Neutrogena disposable razors in early July, and after weekly shavings of pits, legs and bikini line, I've run through three of them. They gunk up very quickly, possibly because of the gel strip. This is unusual, but I tend to buy whatever brand is on sale and thus don't remember which worked best. Opinions?

mystery spots on carpet?
So recently they put new light tan carpeting in the bedrooms in my apartment(the rest is hardwood, bathrooms are linoleum) just recently these random tiny blackish-grayish spots have started appearing on the carpeting on my bedroom! I tried capturing them in photo but they don't show up too hot but are definitely visible to the naked eye. Now I don't wear shoes in the house, have no pets or kids, so really so clue as to what these spots may be! My only idea is that my bathroom is attached to my bedroom and I sometimes don't towel off after a shower and choose to air dry instead, this seems quite a possibility as some larger spots are by the area between the bathroom door and the bedroom, could my carpeting be getting mold spots? I've tried hydrogen peroxide to get them up, any better suggestions (please don't just say carpet cleaner I kinda like non chemical stuff as much as possible....) TIA!

Eta
I just tried some white vinegar and nada! The hydrogen peroxide faded the spots a tiny bit, and did not bleach the carpet but the vinegar did nothing but make the carpet damp lol!

Ugh.
Oh god. This is going to be an unnecessarily long rant, and I'm sorry in advance, but this guy really pissed me off and upset me. And I need to get it off my chest.

So usually I just take this kind of stuff and don't say anything, but I was on bar yesterday and people just kept being SO PICKY about their drinks. And this one guy had ordered a doppio macchiato with "milk, no foam," so I put a bit of milk in the cup with the shots and handed it off. Correct, right? Wrong. He handed it back and told me (told, not asked) to put in a lot more milk, with a tone of voice like I'd fucked it up and didn't know what I was doing.

The way he said it really irritated me. So I did it, but I said as I handed it back, "Just so you know for the future, with that much milk in it, it's a double short latte, not a doppio macchiato." *smile smile!* He stared at me for a second, then walked away without saying a word.

Flash forward to today. I had totally forgotten about what had happened, because... no big deal, right? Wrong. I was on register today. And the guy came back (he is not a regular), and came up to my register. Except I didn't recognize him at all at first.

mid-cycle spotting/discharge
It's been two weeks since my last period. I'm not on any form of medication or birth control, not currently sexually active, etc. I'm getting something that I thought was my period but isn't turning into actual blood, just dark brown discharge, like the kind I get at the end of my period. Should this be cause for concern? It's never happened to me before. I have a fluid-filled ovarian cyst that's about 5cm x 6cm - getting it removed in December.

I tried looking up information on "spotting", but everything I got was either related to early pregnancy or taking birth control pills - help! There's no way I can be pregnant right now. I exercised very hard two days before the spotting began, to the point that I could barely walk from exhaustion afterwards (hadn't exercised for a while, got way too into a 2.5-hour fitness class). Could that possibly have anything to do with it?

Ovulation effects
I took Plan B last month since my partner and I were a little irresponsible very close to my ovulation.

My cycle was a few days longer than normal, which I read was expected. I keep track of my cycles at mymonthlycycles.com, and logged the day my period started. It then gave me the date of my next ovulation and period. Good to go.

My question is: will I ovulate according to the extended cycle because of Plan B (which would be around Day 18), or will my ovulation fall back into the normal, shorter cycle pattern this month (where it's normally Day 15)? In short, was my last cycle length a "fluke" because of the Plan B? I would really like to know so we can use extra precautions.

I had an urge to gush
I love mycycle.com. I've been exhausted for the last 24 hours or so, for no particular reason. Was going to attribute it to my sister's water breaking last night, and the following trip to the hospital, but I was tired before that. Today my face starting breaking out, and I didn't know why. Went onto mycycle.com just a minute ago, and was hit with "oh right, period in about a week." It's so nice to be able to plan this stuff. ^-^

Stockinette Woes--please help!
This is rather embarrassing, but terribly irksome, so here's what's going on:

My Stockinette only turns out properly while doing circular knitting, never on straight needles. While my knitted rows look like the nice little 'v's they should be, my purl rows tend to turn out omega-shaped and apparently backward, or at least at the opposite slant. I figure it's some sort of twisting or other orientation problem, so I've checked my books and assorted video clips (including those on knittinghelp.com) and as far as the English method (which I use) goes, I appear to be doing the stitches correctly from a purely technical perspective (knitting: with working yarn in back, insert right needle through back of loop, wrap working yarn counterclockwise around tip, pull through and off; purling: with working yarn in front, insert right needle through front of loop, wrap yarn counterclockwise around tip, pull through and off). So, I'm not sure where I'm going wrong--and it must be a technical problem because it occurs regardless of my needles or yarn choice.

To help you see better how it's turning out, here are some photos (I apologize for the large size, but it's to show the stitch detail as best I can):

Circular Stockinette )

Straight-Needle Stockinette )

Now, just to clarify on the straight-needle photo, the first 15 rows (below the horizontal pins) are done as straight dictionary-definition Stockinette of "knit one row, purl one row." The next 15 rows (above the pins) are one attempt to correct the issue by individually turning each stitch around prior to purling--as you can see, it didn't work. ^_^; While I don't have photos, other things I've attempted in order to correct the problem have included trying to wrap the yarn clockwise while purling (which produced stitches not only omega-shaped, but they looked upside-down as well!), and individually turning the stitches prior to purling and wrapping the yarn clockwise (which almost worked, except it wreaked absolute havoc when it came to the following knitted row!).

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this? Thank you so much!

Madness.

I meander in early today, arounf 5a. I start at 530; but I wanted to chat and sip mah coffee early. Some of the more notorius boys have opened - late, but are in good spirits. We yammer, its slow, laughing. Sharing horrible jokes.

I clock in, assume my station in drive and hear a loud. "WHAT THE FU-!!11"

DTO and I are quite curious; so we look. Shift is apparently flabbergasted; the front espresso machine is refusing us it's shots.  Dumbfounded at the horrible sense of timing and  machine failure; we scramble to coax it to release it's warm, steamy brown delights. We vacum it. We clean it. It rinses, it grinds, but no shots are forthcoming.

Perturbed, but forced by persisnt dings and squawking demands; DTO and I continue working. Shift places a call, a tech may come in later.

fast forward to rush time.

We have one bar, (drive) working for shots, the other steams fine. We have lines wrapped around the building and out the door, a newbie on DTO, seriously pissed off people

we rocked that shit. RAR

keeping color in towels
Hi everyone,
I don't know if this has ever been addressed before but I was wondering what could be used to stop the color in my towels from fading?
The concentration and hue of the original towel is completely gone.

HBC + Yeast Infection=Period Woes ?
I'm on my 4th month or so of Femcon FE and have never had a problem yet. My period has been the first or second day the prior times. This time, I have a yeast infection presently. Additionally, I've had spotty pill usage for the first time ever this cycle (I'm not presently having sex so no worries there...)--once where I took the pill at 3 the next day (I take it at 9PM at night) and another time the following week where I had to take two pills at once (because I had forgotten that much).

Now, it's the close of the 2nd day of my null week (where I should be having a period). Should I be worried of anything? Not getting my period is really starting to worry me. Even when I finger myself to clear out any treatment (for the YI) that's left over, there's no blood or spotting or anything of the like.

What gives?!

Baristas, voice your opinion!
As a follow up to my post a couple days about the your managers allowing you to wear your piercings, show tattoos, flaunt your blue hair, and paint your nails, I believe we should speak up. Starbucks believes that we should appeal to all walks of life and that the same types of people that come in for coffee, should be the ones working behind the counter. This encourages an inviting experience for the customer, and I believe we should stick to this policy and move forward with it. How disgusted do you think a customer would be if I was making their latte with painted nails? Not at all, in fact, when I first started working, 3 customers complimented me on my red nails before my manager took me in the back room and scolded me for not following the Starbucks policy. Do you think a customer would be offended if I rang them up at the register, giving them a positive welcome and delivering their beverage just the way they like it at 5:00am, all while having a little diamond stud in my nose? These are things that I believe keeps Starbucks from moving forward in society and keeps them close-minded and ignorant to what working in a coffee shop is about. When I am a CEO of a billion dollar company and they want me to take out my nose ring, maybe I'll consider it..but in the mean time I'm a barista making 8 bucks an hour to make coffee beverages and create the environment of a second home, and I believe we need some serious LOVING.

Here are some statistics:

36% of ages 18-25 have tattoos and 40% of those 26-40 have tattoos as well, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center. National Geographic News stated that approximately 40 million people have tattoos on their body in The United States of America. According to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology in 2006, 14% of Americans have body piercings other than their earlobe.

So, in order to get this small-minded predjudice behavior to stop, I believe we should take action. On our Starbucks' website, we have a specially little page called Mission Review!

https://client.siapps.com/mr/eawldemo/SBuxMRDefault.aspx

I ask all of you that feel strongly about this should speak your opinion, just as I have. It would be just unfair to partners if it was mandatory to have piercings and tattoos. They need to understand at corporate that our new generation will soon be taking over anyways and grandmas will soon be covered in tattoos. As long as partners are sanitary (non-pierced and non-tattooed, as well) there is not one reason why I can't have the protein coming out of my scalp dyed a certain color, or my nails painted pink, or my nose, eyebrow, monroe etc. pierced. I am just as clean, if not cleaner, and Starbucks needs to change things around!

Ovarian cysts
Hi, I'm new here. :)

I'm forty (newly) and was just diagnosed with a 12.5 cm complex ovarian cyst. Naturally, it has to come out, but I am worried about the surgery. They can't do it with a scope, and she said I'd need six weeks to recuperate. However, I'm in my last year of my degree, I have a special needs daughter, and I will most likely be moving soon. Past surgeries have proven to me that, as long as I go easy, I can head back to a more productive schedule sooner. I *really* do not want to screw up this semester, and the kid requires constant attention. (Although she was a very sweet nurse after my ligation) :). All I have to do is sit for classes, really. Plus, walk a lot, but I can walk slowly!

So, has anyone here had a surgery like this? Can you tell me about how long it took you to get back to life? Any suggestions on how to handle the school thing? Also, what were your symptoms. I have been having bad back pain at night, and I wondered if this might be caused by this cyst.

12.5 cm is about the size of a medium grapefruit, BTW. I kept thinking it was really small, until I got a ruler out. :P
